After doing both a survey for moving based and still based image texts, and deciding on doing a still based piece for my coursework, i can conclude that people tend to be attracted to:
Bright Colours both used for the image on the background and for text that may be on the cover
A more larger picture on the cover rather than a collection of smaller ones
People tend to be more attracted to magazines that matter to them or are aimed at their generation, so in the survey people answered with music, sport, fashion and gossip rather than gardening, for example.
I think a more higher production value would attract people more to the cover that i will design, so i'd have to choose suitable colours that contrast each other, rather than choosing random colours.
The couple of template/ideas that i drew up, include ideas that i could use in my 1st draft, so '3 Dimesional' effects, i.e. shapes coming from a point in the centre of a page, an effect called liquify that merges colours together, one called 'Invert,' which inverts colours and more that i'll probably learn about when my skills in Photoshop advance.
